Default Qualifications required to becoming an Accounting Technician?

There are no minimum education requirements to enrol for an accounting technician training course. However, accounting professionals need to have high degree of planning/organising skills, analytical & numerical skills and a sound knowledge of working of financial systems, accounting, budgeting and tax planning expertise. The exact requirements can vary among employers. Most employers will look at four GCSEs (A-C), with maths. Being comfortable using computers and accounting knowledge are basic prerequisites.

Accounting qualification (AS or A level), basic bookkeeping qualification and previous work experience, etc can also form essential qualifications. You can be qualified as an accountant technician, if you can complete the training courses offered by Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or by Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). AAT offers vocational courses – which means, you gain the technical and practical skills you require to answer the demands of the job.

Work experience is also required for getting into an organization. Freshly qualified persons can find apprenticeship programs and temporary job openings in different organizations.
