Default What does an Advocates' Clerk (Scotland) do?

Advocates' clerk will oversee and manage the administration of advocates' office. You will have varying responsibilities of administration, accounting, and corresponding with clients. The jobs are similar to that of Barristers' Clerk (England and Wales). You will be assisting advocates in smooth running of their practice, by assisting them with organising their practice. You have a good understanding of managing advocates' workload and advice advocates on taking specific cases. You are also responsible for day to day money management, bookkeeping and accounting.

You will also interact with the clients, negotiating fees. You may also act as a guide to junior advocates, helping them pick up in their trade. You will use computerised and paper based filing systems to record all developments.
