Qualifications required to becoming an Alexander Technique Practitioner
Alexander Technique practice is largely unregulated. The Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT), the Professional Association of Alexander Teachers (PAAT), etc are the professional bodies that offer training and development in the area. There aren't many academic qualification requirements for most of the training programs. However, you can benefit from hands on training from a recognised practitioner. There are only 2,000 to 3,000 practitioners in the whole of UK.
Most of the practitioners got into the area after personally benefiting from the use of this technique. You need to pass an approved training program before you can start practicing. The courses can last for up to four years. You will also benefit if you are educated on biology, physiology, etc.
