Default What skills are needed to become an Archivist?

As an archivist, you need to have high interests in history and preservation. You will also need good communication skills – both written and verbal. You will also benefit from good people management skills. Ability to understand complex information and skills to describe them clearly are also essential qualities. A methodical approach, organisation skills and attention to detail are also essential. You will need good research skills. You will also be working alone or with a team and should be able to manage both kinds of working.
