Default What does an Art Therapist do?

An art therapist uses art as a means of helping people to express their thoughts. They use colours, lines and curves to bring out the thoughts and feelings of people who are trying to recover from addictions, behavioural problems, speech problems, etc. Art therapy practitioners help their clients gain awareness of their feelings. They also help them use art as a means of expressing themselves. However, they don't teach art at highest levels, but in a way of using the strokes and colours to expressing their feelings.

They work on variety of places like schools, de-addiction training centres, hospitals, prisons, etc. They also work with persons with behavioural problems, learning problems, emotional problems, speech & language problems, etc. Art therapy is also used a means of recovering from addictions, illness, etc.
