Default What Does an Arts Administrator Do?

Arts administrators work in a dynamic and sophisticated environment, organising arts and cultural activities. They are employed by arts centres, theatres, and local administration. An arts administrator is responsible for communicating with artists and organizing arts and cultural events ranging from dance festivals to painting exhibitions.

An arts direct works closely with artists, arts organisations, sponsors, media, publicity partners, etc. It will sometimes be the responsibility of an art administrator to finalise sponsorship terms, managing ticket sales and organising publicity. He or she possesses good organisation skills and arrange security, manage budget, keep records and oversee administrative tasks of all kinds.

In smaller organisations, you shall be responsible for managing the whole system, while in bigger organisations, you shall handle one or two of the tasks described above. The competition for getting into this job is stiff and the jobs are not usually advertised, but filled through referrals by the organisations.
