Default What Does an Assistant Immigration Officer Do?

Assistant Immigration Officers work at airports, seaports and open waterways and offers assistance to the government with immigration control. They are responsible to check the travel documents of inbound passengers and conduct interviews. Their work can also involve taking fingerprints, checking work permits, etc. It is also their duty to find persons staying illegally in the United Kingdom and to notify such instances to the police. He or she keeps records of the action taken, and coordinates with higher officers to keep immigration affairs smooth and steady.

An assistant immigration officer helps in making arrangements for the removal of unauthorised residents, dealing with transportation companies and handling clerical jobs. He/she will also need to work closely with immigration officers and the police department. It is a very responsible job and directly responsible for getting the issues associated with immigration under control. With new realities, they also have a role to play in ensuring the security of the nation.
