Default What does a Barrister do?

A barrister represents his/her clients in a court of law and provides legal assistance and advice to solicitors, organisations and businesses. Your requirements will include meeting up with solicitors on behalf of your clients. You will also take on cases that go to the Court. You will conduct extensive researches, especially on past verdicts. You will refer to past legal procedures and verdicts while handling similar cases.

You will also prepare arguments based on legal provisions while representing your clients in the court. Your duties will also include cross-examining the different parties involved in the case. Legal practitioners often specialise in one area – like civil or criminal laws and specialised areas like copyright rules, family, business laws, taxes, wills, estates, etc.
