Default Who Do Barristers' Clerks Do?

Barristers' Clerks handle responsible administration and business activities in a barrister's chamber. Barristers' clerks are familiar with Court procedures and are required to have high levels of legal knowledge, communication skills and keen business acumen. Though the position is termed 'Barristers' Clerk', the demands vary from coordination of administrative tasks to specifying barristers for individual clients. Also responsible for day to day money management, a Barristers' Clerk also is responsible for bookkeeping and accounting.

Barristers' Clerks negotiate barrister's fee, manage the workload of barristers in the chamber and attracting clients by undertaking and managing marketing activities of various kinds. Barristers' Clerks also play significantly important role in the office, as they will be discussing with junior barristers of the kind of cases to take up, managing important business activities and managing the whole of administration section.

A barristers' clerk is also adept at handling computers, planning workloads, keeping accounts and arranging fee collection, negotiating with clients, and aggressively marketing through various channels including seminars and major events.
