Default Qualifications required to becoming a Beauty Therapist

You need a Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy to offer your services as a beauty therapist. NVQ, City & Guilds, VTCT Advanced Diploma, etc are qualifications you can look for. You can also look for internationally recognised qualifications like CIBTAC. You will get hands on training while going through the college courses or training at beauty schools.

If you choose, you can also complete Level 2 in beauty therapy and gain experience under a qualified beauty therapist at a beauty clinic. You can gain higher qualifications after you get hands on training on the procedures.

After starting your practice, you can also go for specialist training like epilation (electrolysis), UV tanning, etc. The courses are available through City & Guilds, ITEC, etc. You can also gain training on use of specific products by the suppliers or manufacturers of the beauty care products.
