Default Qualifications required to becoming a Bodyguard/Close Protection Officer

There are no set of formal education requirements to become a bodyguard. All you need is a strong, fit physique, alertness and ability to handle difficult situations that may arise at crowded locations. To be qualified as a bodyguard or close protection officer, you need to be licensed by Security Industry Authority (SIA). Your identity and criminal records will be checked. You should also have a first aid certificate. In addition, you will also be required to get a Level 3 qualification in close protection. Driving license is a prerequisite.

SIA is the authority in this area and there quite a few places where you can get the training to be qualified as a bodyguard. Buckingham New University offers a Foundation Degree in Protective Security Management, which also will be helpful. You can take this course after you join this industry of protecting celebrities and VIPs.
