Default Qualifications required to become a Computer Service & Repair Technician

You don't need a any formal academic qualifications to start as a computer service and repair technician. If you have taught yourself or have got training under an experienced technician, you can gain the skills needed. You can increase your chances of getting hired with some academic & vocational qualifications like certificates or diplomas. This is because some employers will look for such qualifications before recruiting. You can work towards qualifications like BTEC National Certificate or Diploma for IT Practitioners (Level 3). You can also opt for certificates and diplomas from City & Guilds or any IT hardware training providers.

You can also work towards NVQ in IT or qualifications from British Computer Society. You can also keep your skills up to date by reading magazines and by talking to expert technicians. Discussing the computer related issues, viruses, etc with fellow technicians can help you easily find solutions for specific problems, which you may not find easy to solve.
