Default What does a Consumer Scientist do?

Consumer scientists work for media research and consumer research companies, giving insight into consumer behaviour. They use variety of tools to gather and analyse consumer data. They work for sectors like retail, media, food manufacturing, pressure groups, education, etc. Sometimes there can be specialisation in the roles and at times, the consumer scientists handle more than one sector – like retail and food business.

The research findings are then used by the manufacturers and retailers to determine the fate of products. Based on the research findings, product packaging designers, manufacturers, etc determine the kind of products that the consumers really need. You will offer suggestions for quality assurance, marketing, education, public relations, etc.

You will also recruit focus groups, conduct interviews with consumers and prepare questionnaires for consumer surveys.
