Default What does a Credit Manager do?

A credit manager manages a team of credit controllers or debt re-collectors at a bank, a non banking financial institute or a debt collection agency. You may also work for companies that extend consumer or business credit. You are also responsible for checking customers' credit worthiness, recommending or rejecting credit applications, drawing terms and conditions for repayment, etc. You will also be responsible for analysing the worthiness of partner companies, which receive supplies or services on credit.

You will also be responsible for overseeing accounting and administrative tasks. You will plan reasonable repayment plans, which you can present to the debtors. In case, the debtors don't accept the alternate payment schedules, you will initiate legal proceedings to recoup the defaulted amounts.
