Qualifications required to becoming a Credit Manager
If you are working as a credit controller (debt collection agent), sales administrator, etc, you can work your way up to becoming a credit manager. As a credit manager, you have bigger responsibilities. It can be helpful, if you have qualifications in other areas like accountancy, banking, etc. You need to have good standards of general education – GCSEs including maths. Business qualifications of any type can also be helpful.
Once you get promoted as a credit manager, you can further your qualifications and skills by taking up training programs of various kinds, which deal with litigations, debt recollection procedures, etc. You can go for ICM Level 3 Diploma in Credit Management or similar courses. One of the most important things is to keep up to date with the rules regarding debt recollection, customer rights and a good knowledge of latest insolvency cases, repossession procedures, etc.
