You need a degree in dance, performing arts, psychology, medicine or nursing before you can get the qualifications required to becoming a dance movement therapist. You also have to pass a post graduate qualification as recognized by the Association of Dance Movement Therapists. Before you can find employment, you must be at least 23 years old, have experience in the therapy (by working under a professional), and should be knowledgeable about using dance movements as a means of communication.

You can also further your qualifications later on by attending workshops, training programs and by conducting researches and keeping up to date with the latest trends and developments in the field.
