Default What skills are needed for a Dance Movement Therapist?

You will need good communication skills and listening abilities. You have good levels of physical fitness. You are also a person of creativity and have a good understanding of dance and movements. You are a good motivator and are able to empathise with your clients. As a dance therapist, you should also have an active interest in alternative therapies, health, arts, diet, etc. Your knowledge of psychology, human anatomy, physiology, etc can also be helpful. You will be working on variety of settings – schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centres, etc and the conditions can be demanding.
