What does a Debt Collector do?
A debt collector works at a debt collector's or agency office, or from home on behalf of the collection agency, making calls to persons, businesses and organizations that have defaulted on their loans or credit purchases. Their responsibility is to look into the matters of late payments, loan defaults and failure to pay up credits. They talk to the defaulters and offer repayment schedules, so that they can make payments and set their credit history in shape.
You will also be required to visit the defaulters at their office or residence as the situation demands. You will also design reasonable repayment plans, if the defaulters are in financial stress and are willing to make structured repayments.
You will manage computer database, calling up customers and collecting whereabouts of defaulters who go missing. You will also recommend legal proceedings against defaulters if they refuse to pay up after giving reasonable repayment plans.
