A debt collector should have excellent communication skills. He/she should be tactful, diplomatic and knowledgeable about the rules of debt recollection practices. As a debt collector, you will be able to use computer systems to keep the list of defaulters up to date and at your fingertips. You have excellent telephonic conversation skills, good people management skills, patience and ability to work through difficult collection experiences. It is your responsibility to deal with defaulters, who have defaulted either by circumstances or by choice. More than the qualifications you have, it is your ability to manage the situations correctly that matters the most.
