Default Qualifications needed for a Delivery Van Driver

You will need driving license, driving experience and a good driving record. The type of licence you need can vary, depending on the type/weight of vehicle.

If your car driving licence was obtained before Jan 1, 1997, you can drive vehicles of 7.5 tonnes.

If you have gained the licence after that, you can drive vehicles of up to 3.5tonnes.

To drive vehicles weighing between 3.5 and 7.5 tonnes, you need C1 license. The qualifications of this license include being 18 years of age, have to pass a medical test, etc.

You may be also required to pass vision tests, especially for colour vision. Good communication skills – both written and verbal – are essential. You also need to have good levels of basic numerical abilities.
