Qualifications required to become an Entertainment Agent
Academic qualifications are not as much important as your abilities in spotting talents, negotiation skills and ability to manage relationships. You can get into the sector through variety of channels. Employers will mostly look at your experience – either paid or unpaid, when considering your application. If you have experience in business management, accounting, administration, public relations, events management, media or performing arts, etc, it can be beneficial. You will also benefit from foreign language skills – Italian, French or German. If you have contacts within the entertainment industry, you can manage their careers to success, which can act as a qualification your employer seeks. You can also ask for placement as administrator, assistant, etc at an agency, from where you can learn the skills and develop your career. You can also find information and further career planning tips from groups like The Agents' Association (Great Britain).
