Default What does Estate Officer Do?

Estates officer is a government servant, managing public property and land owned by local councils and public bodies. You will be responsible for maintenance and repair of buildings like hospitals, government offices, etc. It is also the duty of the estate officers to ensure the buildings are used for the intended purposes only.

They also are responsible for setting and reviewing rents and managing tenancy applications, checking tenancy agreements and analysing property or land purchase deals. You will oversee the returns from the buildings and analyse statistical and financial data. It is also the responsibility of the estates officer to work with other departments to ensure the property is made available for relevant purposes and to make sure it is used for the said purposes.

They are also responsible for keeping up to date with environmental issues and oversee the building activities are in tune with legal controls and restrictions.
