What Qualifications are needed to become a European Union Official?
The first qualification is to be a citizen of any one of the European Union member states. A working knowledge of a second EU language is additional benefit, the proficiency of second language will be tested during the interview/recruitment process.
There are also different posts and the qualifications vary according to the duties involved. For administrative posts, you need to have a university degree in any subject. However, if your posting is for specific posts like law, economics, statistics, etc, you need degree in that subject.
Lawyer Linguist (the linguist who translates legal terms to native language or mother tongue) requires a degree in law or should be a qualified solicitor or barrister. He/she should also be fluent in both the languages.
After inducting into the office, you will undergo intensive induction training, during which you learn most of the skills you need for the job.
