Default What Qualifications are Required to Become an Events Manager?

You really don't need to have any particular educational qualifications to reach the position of events managers. Any qualification can get you there, but the most important factor is the skills you possess. You will need excellent communication skills – both verbal and written, good computer skills, budget management skills and ability to motivate a team of sales and support staff.

Your experience in organising events of various types is the most important qualification you need to possess. You can gain experience by temping (working temporarily) or volunteering for different organisations. There are also apprenticeship programs that you can make use of.

The most important thing is to build contacts with persons from all walks of life, especially with managers of companies and organisations. Organising personal, social or business events either for a fee or for free can give you experience. You can also utilise such events for building contacts.
