Default What skills are needed for a Family Mediator?

If you are performing as a Family Mediator, you need excellent communication skills and listening skills. A thorough understanding of family law and ability to objective interpretation is essential. You need to be a good people manage, with ability to act with empathy. You also need professional demeanour, diplomacy and tactfulness. You need an assertive, confident approach. You should deal with the cases with an open mind, with a non-judgemental mind. Fair and objective dealings are essential. You will be working with people who are agitated and oftentimes under severe emotional stress. You also need to have a high dose of enthusiasm, creative thinking and willingness to work with people.
