Default What does a Film/Video Editor do?

A film/video editor is responsible for putting together the visuals and sounds of a video, so that the final product is ready for broadcast through TV or ready for sale on DVD. They use their creativity and technical skills to edit videos. They use variety of post production tools and techniques to change the raw materials collected in the camera to something presentable and of a compelling viewing.

They are knowledgeable about use of graphics, sound effects, video/visual effects and more. They also stitch unrelated video sequences together. He/she takes inputs from the director on the requirements. It will be your job to transfer the video to computer, determine the shots and sequences to be used in the video and adding any visual effects as needed. He/she also puts together the titles so that there will be a finished product – a piece of video ready for broadcast or for DVD sales.
