What does a Firefighter do?
Firefighters' primary job is to save people and property during emergencies like fire or other kinds of hazards. They are called up on during emergencies of all different types and they coordinate rescue operates and safely remove people out of danger. They provide practical advice and support for security persons and builders on fire safety.
Their duty involves putting out fire at buildings (of any kind). They will be mobilised during bomb blasts or with bomb blast threats. They rescue persons stuck inside buildings or vehicles. They also are knowledgeable about handling harmful substances like poisonous gases and hazardous chemicals.
Firefighters and officers also inspect buildings to make sure they meet recommended fire safety standards. They also periodically conduct presentations to sensitise students and public about the measures to be taken during emergencies. Firefighters job used to be riskier, but with innovative tools and safety gear that can even outlast a bomb blast have considerably reduced the risks.
