Default What skills are needed to become a Forensic Computer Analyst?

Apart from strong understanding of computers, operating systems and hardware, a forensic computer analyst also should be able to approach problems on an unbiased manner, fast at spotting trends, and finding connecting links between seemingly unrelated events. A thorough knowledge of legal provisions, understanding of security standards and ability to work under pressure & being able to meet deadlines are all necessary. Excellent communication skills, presentation skills, thorough understanding of the situation and staying objective are all important skills.

Thoroughly learning the latest investigative tools, sophisticated analysis methods, etc and being able to keeping track of fast changing technology is important. To collect data from formatted and destroyed computer discs, tie distinct links together and present them as valid proof at the court of law – it takes skills of different kinds.
