Default What does a Freight Forwarder do?

Freight forwarders arrange transportation of goods and plan the routes to take. They plan whether to forward freight via road, rail, sea or air. They take decisions on freight forwarding and movement. They arrange routes and schedules. They book cargo space, negotiate rates, buy insurance, and carry out administrative tasks. They determine the weight, volume and shipping costs. They report all these details with computer based systems. They also prepare quotations and invoices.

Freight forwarders also communicate to customers, who have booked shipping arrangements with the freight company. It is also the responsibility of freight forwarder to prepare contracts of different kinds with shipping partners and long term clients.

You will plan and advise the best routes and means of transportation. In short, you will be responsible for everything that goes within the office and on the movement of the goods you ship.
