Default What Qualifications are needed to become a Grants Officer?

More than formal qualifications, it is your experience in accounting, budget management, database management, etc that count. Some organisations also require you to have experience in the same field as they are funding – that is, if you are applying for a grants officer at an organisation that extends grants to scientific research, you will need to have a degree in science. There are also other areas like arts, conservation & ecosystem, etc that have grants from different organisations coming.

Your experience can be both paid and unpaid works. Once you are inducted, you can seek further training and qualifications in the form of certificate courses, attending seminars, etc. You can also look for training opportunities in voluntary and not for profit sectors.
