Default What Qualifications are needed to become a Health Records Clerk?

Any experience in administrative or office work is beneficial. Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and other computer programs are also essential. Employers generally look for GCSEs (A-C) including English and maths. Experience counts. You can gain relevant experience through apprenticeships. It is beneficial if your locality offers good apprenticeship opportunities.

In addition, you may also need to pass a criminal records test. On the job, you can further your qualifications by taking up different courses, some of which may be available as in-house courses. 'Institute of Health Record Information and Management' (IHRIM) offers certificate and diploma courses.
