Default What Skills are needed to become a Health and Safety Adviser?

The most important skill you need is the understanding of safety procedures and safety requirements of whatever workplace you manage. You should then be able to communicate the safety requirements in an assertive manner, so that your recommendations should be implemented. Good communications skills are essential – you will need to manage face to face, telephonic and written communications. Attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, physical fitness and ability to work for long hours, are all essential skills.

You will need logical thinking and problem solving capabilities. You also should possess good reporting skills, proficiency using computers and a good understanding of relevant laws of workplace safety.
