Housing policy officers develop and put forward policies to ensure housing authorities respond to housing needs and government housing policies. They work for organisations like local authorities or housing associations. Housing policy officers research housing issues and recommends good practices for action. They collect the health as well as employment statistics and demographics. Housing policy officers are representatives of housing services on corporate working groups. They gather and present relevant data through producing publications such as research reports, policy briefings and information fact sheets. They recommend needed changes according to government initiatives and new legislation. They deliver presentations and talk to both organization and general public. Housing policy officers work closely with various departments, external agencies, landlords and community groups. Experienced officers can specialize in areas like equalities issues, research or data collection.
