Default What skills are needed to become a Housing Policy Officer?

Housing policy officers require mathematical and analytical skills to work with complex statistical data. They have to be effective communicators. Customer skills are another important quality expected from housing policy officers. Business sense and negotiation ability are also included in requirements. Work priority and highly organised way of working is essential. Good project management skills together with time management are essential for better performance. They have to show tact and diplomacy in dealing with difficult customers. Computer literacy and IT skills are required. They have to work effectively and calmly under pressure to meet targets. Report generation and clear presentation of complex data is necessary. They must have a thorough understanding of housing legislation and policies together with a great network of contacts in the industry.
