Default What skills are needed to become an Immigration Officer

An immigration officer needs to be a confident, assertive person with strong sense of fairness and ability to manage people and situations. He or she is knowledgeable about the laws and should be understanding of various situations and people. Early identification of problem areas, excellent communication skills, good judgement, conflict management skills, etc are all important skills you need. You will need to work long hours, and at odd hours, while your friends may be partying. Ability to meet deadlines and ability to working under pressure situations, a methodological approach to work and ability to share your work with a team, good observation powers, etc are all essential skills. You will also need good report writing skills, as you will be required to keep records of the action taken and to share it with police and/or security agencies.
