Default What does an Indexer do?

An indexer indexes texts of all kinds. As an indexer, your responsibilities will include creating or modifying an index of the whole set of documents, so that the readers can easily locate the information they need. You will be working with technical manuals, books, websites, etc. You give an organised look to the extensive text, by giving it a structured look.

You will study the documents in detail to get an idea of what the text is about. You will then identify the key points and keywords. You will break down the information into easily usable sections. You will also index photographs and other graphics. In short, you will make it easier for readers to find the text they need.
