Default What skills are needed to become an Indexer?

Speed reading skills, comprehension skills and a logical approach are the most important skills an indexer needs. You need to stick to high standards of accuracy. You will benefit from good general knowledge and specialist knowledge in the books and documents you index. You also need a good command over the language. Good computer skills are also essential. You will need to organise your working hours to meet the deadlines. Your ability to deliver finished works, which can be immediately forwarded to print is the most important skill you need.
