Default Qualifications required to become an Information Scientist

You need a degree or postgraduate qualification in information management or librarianship. The courses are available from a variety of universities and colleges. If you have graduate qualification in management/librarianship, you can start graduate trainee program. You can also get practical experience by volunteering. You can also start as an assistant to information scientist. You can later work your way up, by taking qualifications while on the job. NVQ in information and library sciences can help.

Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) is the professional body, from where you can find training programmes and approved memberships. You can also get support and further guidance.
