Default Qualifications required to becoming a Librarian

Relevant qualifications are needed for a professional librarian. Graduation in information management or librarian ship provided by Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) is essential. Any how graduates in other subjects can also work towards postgraduate qualification in information management. Prior to the post graduation course, one year library experience is needed. Full time as well as part time courses are available. To begin you can join as library assistant and earn adequate experiences in the way to librarian. Apprenticeship schemes can be used by the beginners for a professional entry. Once started working you can for CILIP membership. Depending upon your experience and qualifications, levels of membership may change. Members can access support, advice and professional development training from CILIP. Chartered membership of CILIP is required to become recognized public and academic librarians. To earn this membership post graduation in library science or CILIP certification plus evidences of continues professional developments are required.
