Default Qualifications required to becoming a Local Government Revenues Officer

Entry Requirements of a revenue officer depends upon the employer. They will look forward for a candidate with at least five GCSEs. Good standards in English and maths are a necessity. Instead of specific qualifications you will be tested for numeric ability, communication and IT skills. Experience of team working in administrative or financial sectors is an added advantage. Most of the employers provide in house trainings for officers. Training packages include computer software and benefit laws.

It is advisable to undergo revelavant certificate courses provided by authorised institutions. Level 3 Certificate in Local Taxation and Benefits, NVQ Level 3 in Housing and Council Tax Benefit or NVQ Level 3 in Local Taxation are some of the recommended qualifications to pursue, if you are already working with local revenue department. If you are looking for the position of team leader or revenue manager you should posses a minimum of five years experience and the IRRV Full Professional Qualification.
