Default What skills are needed to become a Local Government Revenues Officer?

Revenue officers deals with confidential information and so they should be honest and trust worthy. They are even asked to submit a background investigation report. Tax collectors require good communication skills. Written skills along with tact to deal with distress customers are necessary. Revenue officer must be a computer literate with knowledge in benefits laws. Patience is needed to explain complex rules and regulations to difficult clients. Good mathematical skills and team working is essential. Problem solving ability, quick decision and accuracy to detail to needed. They should be good negotiators with organisational and time management skills. Ability to work alone is also crucial.
