Default What do Museum Assistants do?

Depending on the place and size of the museum, museum assistants have varying functions. The general requirements include inspecting the exhibits and making sure everything is in order. You will also be responsible for customer service, ticket sales and security. You will also be required of bookkeeping and record keeping.

You might also answer visitors' questions and assist curators to change the positions of exhibits. You might also handle administrative tasks and cleaning of the exhibits. In big museums, your job will be specialised and you need to only take care of one task – like talking to visitors, making sure the exhibits are in order, ticket sales or overseeing security.

Thus, museum assistants are mostly all-rounders, responsible for cleaning tasks to administrative tasks. Their walk can include working in weekends and on holidays, when the museum is open and one or more hours before and after the museum's open hours.
