Default What skills are needed to become a Music Therapist?

Excellent communication and listening skills are needed for a music therapist. A music therapist should be a confident, honest person who can maintain confidential details. They should be highly skilled and knowledgeable about different kinds of music and its applications. Patience, empathy and sincerity with a non judgemental approach are required. They should be highly imaginative and creative individuals with real interest in helping others. Flexibility and commitment towards work is essential. They should be adaptable with good social skills to get along with people from different backgrounds. Emotional strength and firmness in difficult situations is needed. An interest in human psychology is helpful. Marketing and business skills are necessary for self employed music therapists.
