Qualifications required to becoming a Naturopath
Professional naturopaths need relevant qualifications approved by the General Council and Register of Naturopaths (GCRN). GCRN provides Diploma in Naturopathy, B.Sc degree in Health Sciences and postgraduate diploma courses in naturopathy. To qualify for this course at least five GCSEs in good standards including A levels in biology is required. Recognized degree or diploma courses have anatomy and physiology, nutrition, conventional medical treatments and the theory of naturopathy included in the curriculum. In addition to these 400 hours supervised practical sessions are provided. Registered members of GCRN automatically get registered with British Naturopathic Association. Although private practice is allowed registration with these organizations increases social network, chances for further development, reputation and number clients. You can also resister with Institute for complementary Medicine (ICM) and Complementary Medical Association (CMA).To retain membership in reputed organizations attendances in conferences and work shops for professional development is mandatory. You can also develop skills in therapies such as homeopathy, herbal medicine or aromatherapy as a further improvement.
