What do Neighbourhood Wardens do?
Neighbourhood Wardens essentially act as watchmen for the community, aiming to prevent crimes and anti social behaviour. They are not permitted to use physical force, but are uniformed persons with some authority to patrol the neighbourhood, report incidents to the police and to issue penalty notices for dirtying the neighbourhood (by littering, dog fouling, etc).
Neighbourhood wardens patrol the area and look into the matters of neighbourhood security and other problems. They also report crime to the police and alert relevant agencies about environmental problems. They also extend a helping hand to old and the vulnerable. They make sure suspected activities are not happening at empty properties. They report any occurrence unusual events to police or other agencies as needed. As a neighbourhood warden, you will be talking to persons from variety of backgrounds and you need to have a sense of fairness and justice to be successful in your career as a neighbourhood warden.
