Qualifications required to becoming a Nutritional Therapist
No specific qualifications are required for being a nutritional therapist. However registration with nutritional therapy council (NTC) will increase your reputation, social networks and potential clients. NTC works with British Association of Nutritional Therapists (BANT) and the Wholistic Nutritional Medicine Society (WNMS). Together these organizations maintain standards of nutritional therapy. NTC provides diploma and degree curses in nutritional therapy. At least five GCSEs and knowledge in human biology or chemistry are needed to join these courses. Experienced persons in human biology can also join NTC. Prince's Foundation of Integrated Health (PFIH) and NTC together developed a new regulatory body for a range of complimentary therapies. With NTC courses you can specialize in various streams like as health sciences, nutritional therapeutics and practice management. 50 hours work experience under supervision of senior personal is necessary for registration with professional bodies. Registered therapists will be asked to work towards self development through attending courses and work shops.
