Default What does an Osteopath do?

Osteopaths use palpation techniques to locate strains in the soft tissues. They will cut down the pain and swelling through their advanced way of touch. Osteopaths can treat clients with chronic arthritis, back pain and sports injury. Posture changes due to pregnancy and colic problems in babies can be corrected using osteopathic treatment. Osteopathic treatment helps in developing muscles, bones , ligaments, nerves and joints leading to the over all well being of the individual. Osteopaths collect medical history of the patients and examine their posture concentrating on ligaments, muscles and vertebrae. X-rays and traditional diagnostic methods are also used for assessing the patient’s condition. As part of treatment osteopaths use techniques like joint mobilization, manipulation, massage and deep pressure application. Osteopaths will also suggest suitable diets, exercise and life styles for maintaining a healthy life. Depending upon the conditions of the clients osteopaths will refer the clients to their GPs or medical doctors.
