What does a Play Therapist do?
Play therapists closely work with children of age group 3 to 11 helping them to get over troubling life experiences and psychological problems through games and play. Therapist will assist distressed or disheartened children in play and find out issues difficult to communicate in another ways. Abuse, trauma, neglect, domestic violence, family break down, bereavement or problem with brain development makes children depressed. Play therapist keeps good relationship with parents and teachers of the kids. They will asses child’s needs and carry out sessions at regular intervals. Therapy is through creative arts, toys, music, clay or sand art, drawing and therapeutic story telling. Therapist develops emblematic communication with children through signs and actions reflecting their experiences. Therapist will develop a deep emotional relationship with kids making a positive change in their life. Play therapist keeps good contacts with social services or nurses and often gives evidences or witness in legal issues regarding the custodianship of children.
