Default What skills are needed to become a Play Therapist?

A frank and friendly person with empathy towards kids can become a good play therapist. Excellent communication, listening and speaking skills are essential. Ability to earn trust of children is required. Honest and sincere respect towards feelings of children and knowledge in child development are needed. Ability to understand various ways of child communication is necessary. Flexibility to work with emotionally distress children is an essential skill. Play therapist must have the capability to inspire motivate and gave children a positive out look of life. Tact and skill to deal with difficult behaviour with a non judgement approach is needed. Play therapist should be a trust worthy person who can keep confidential matters.
