What do Police Community Support Officers Do?
Police Community Support Officers (PCSO) work with police. They patrol local areas and deal with minor offences of various types. They provide assistance to police and helps maintain law and order at a community level. The duties are dependant on the needs of society or as directed by the police force. Anti social activities of various kinds are dealt with by PCSO. They can cite incidences of vandalism, littering and otherwise dirtying public locations. They also sensitise people about ways of preventing crimes like break-ins and kidnapping. They have the authority to detain the suspect until police arrives.
They offer their support for public gatherings like festivals and control traffic. These are all duties taken up by PCSO, depending on the demands of the situation. You will get the training after being absorbed as a police community support officer and you are expected to deliver your duties in a just and fair manner.
